Subiaco East Landscaping Strategy for UDLA Landscape Architecture
The Subiaco Oval was in the process of being decommissioned and transformed into a park, with the surrounding lands that were once occupied by a grandstand to be replaced by high-rise apartment buildings.
Broached assisted the landscape architecture firms to understand how to decolonise the area from a landscaping approach and to honour the pre-colonial history whilst understanding their design approach perpetuates a relationship to colonial strategies that date back to the late 18th C emergence of modern landscape architecture.
